The time has come to finally show a bit of the work being done over at Project Wish. We have been working hard to bring this tool to fruition. DWARF, as we call it, is our world editing tool which has now reached version Alpha 0.0.1 -- the first public release.
We used PLSM2 in preparation for a zoneless world. Included with the Alpha demo are a sample scene and a blank scene in the form of 2 maps: Dwarf_sample.dwarf and Dwarf_clean.dwarf. The .dwarf file format is our own creation similar to dotScene, except it is a binary format. We also include a variety of meshes and textures which can be used to create your own scenes.
This is a preview version and the roadmap for features is long and ambitious. To answer the question before it arises, there will not be a source code release with this version. At this point in our development cycle, we felt it was more important to release product to those in the community. Look for changes to occur in this area in the future.
It should also be noted that this is not a do-it-all editor, and never will be. The features it has, and those it will have are tailored to our needs, but it may prove useful to other teams.
Please consider everything contained as Alpha. If you would like to check up on progress, give feedback, and submit bugs we have devoted a section in our forums for DWARF. Please head over to http://forums.projectwish.com .
The following screenshots were created using DWARF and are only meant to portray what can be made using it. Your results may vary. Most of the assets in the scenes are included in this release.
