OracleAutomatic Storage Management Cluster File System (Oracle ACFS) extends OracleAutomatic Storage Management technology to support of all of your applicationdata in both single host and cluster configurations. Oracle Automatic StorageManagement Dynamic Volume
Manager (Oracle ADVM) provides volume managementservices and a standard disk device driver interface to clients. OracleAutomatic Storage Management Cluster File System is layered on Oracle AutomaticStorage Management through the Oracle Automatic Storage Management
DynamicVolume Manager interface.

Note1: '*' denotes 64 bit Linux only.
Note2: "OL" denotes (Oracle Linux ) and"UEK" (Unbreakable
Enterprise Kernel).
Note3: ACFS is not supported on Solaris Containers, only on the globalcontainer/zone, this is completely documented at:

==)>3 Oracle Grid Infrastructure
===)>3.2 Oracle ACFS and Oracle ADVM Support
OracleACFS and Oracle ADVM are supported on Oracle Solaris 10 starting with Update 6.Oracle ACFS and Oracle ADVM are not supported on Oracle Solaris containers.
Note4: ACFS/ADVM are supported on Linux OVM (paravirtualized environment).
Note5: ACFS/ADVM 11.2.0.3 are not supported/certified yet on "2.6.32-200"kernels (e.g. below):
[root@dbaasm]#./acfsdriverstate -orahome $GRID_HOME supported
ACFS-9459:ADVM/ACFS is not supported on this OS version: '2.6.32-200.19.1.el5uek'
Supportfor "2.6.32-200" kernels will start in the first GI PSU 11.2.0.3.1(11.2.0.3 GIPSU #1), (RFI Bug:13241736 & Bug:12825835).
Note6: Special notes for Linux UEK kernels and11.2.0.X ACFS releases:
Note, install of ACFS support on new OS versions in
11.2.0.X.Xmay require manual post processing if you had originally installed the GridInfrastructure on an OS version which ACFS did NOT support (This will not berequired in
12.1 release).
Thus,if you do a patchset, patch bundle, or one-off patch install which adds ACFSsupport for a new OS kernel version (e.g. a later version of UEK), and you findthat you do not have an ora.drivers or ora.registry resource (as shown bycrsctl stat resource ora.registry.acfs),
the following manual action must betaken:
A) 11.2.0.1 & 11.2.0.2releases:
If youhave installed 11.2.0.1 or 11.2.0.2 Grid Infrastructure on any UEK, which ACFSdoes not support, the Grid Infrastructure install will succeed but ACFS willnot function.
Actionsto take if you want to use ACFS:
a)Downgrade the OS to a 2.6.18 kernel (pre-UEK) where ACFS is supported.
b) Run'acfsroot install' on each node of thecluster.
c) Run'acfsroot enable' on each node of thecluster to restore the ACFS CRS resources.
B) 11.2.0.3 release:
If you have installed 11.2.0.3 GridInfrastructure on the a version of the UEK which ACFS does not support, theGrid Infrastructure install will succeed but ACFS will not function.
Actions to take if you want to use ACFS:
Action 1: If available, install a patchset or patchbundle which supports the version of the UEK in question (which willautomatically run 'acfsrootinstall').
OR
Action 2: Reboot on a prior kernel version where ACFSis supported and then run 'acfsroot
install' oneach node of the cluster.
In either case (both Action #1 & Action#2), run 'acfsrootenable' on each node of thecluster to restore the
ACFS CRS resources.
Example use cases:
i) Customer was running 11.2.0.1 or 11.2.0.2 onUEK, where ACFS wasn't supported and downgraded the OS to 2.6.18 in order torun ACFS.
ii) Customer was running 11.2.0.3 on UEK2.6.32-x00, where ACFS wasn't supported but upgraded Grid or patched Grid sothat ACFS can run on 2.6.32-x00.
iii) Customer was running 11.2.0.3 on UEK2.6.32-x00, where ACFS wasn't supported, but downgraded the OS to 2.6.32-y00where ACFS is supported.
Note 7: After apply
Patch:13146560 [UEK -300 SUPPORT FOR ACFS], the
ACFS/ADVM drivers (11.2.0.3.1)
are not being discovered onUEK-300 kernels (this only applies if 11.2.0.3.2 GI PSU is not installed).
Please follow the stepsdescribed in the attached document to implement the solution <click
